Questions families ask
What is the difference between assisted living and memory care?
Assisted living is for people who want their independence with help for daily tasks like bathing, dressing or medications. Memory care adds a secure setting, specially trained caregivers and a daily rhythm designed for people living with Alzheimer’s or other dementia.
How much does it cost?
Every resident’s needs are different, so pricing depends on the suite and the level of care. Contact us for pricing and we’ll walk you through it, with no pressure.
Are the suites private?
We’ll offer both private and shared suites, and every suite has its own bathroom. Our team can help you choose what fits your loved one and budget.
Is there a nurse on staff?
Once we open, a nurse will lead our wellness program, and trained caregivers will be on site 24 hours a day. We are hiring and building the team now.
Can we bring our own furniture?
Of course. Favorite chairs, photos and keepsakes help a suite feel like home from the first day.
What is the license status?
Not yet. Catalina Gardens has applied to the California Department of Social Services for its Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) license. The license is pending, and we’ll welcome residents only once it’s approved. We’re aiming to open in early 2027.
When will you open?
We’re renovating now and aiming to open in early 2027, once our state license is approved. Join our priority list and we’ll keep you posted.
Is everything on one level?
Yes. Catalina Gardens is a single-story community, now under renovation, and every suite is on the ground level. There are no stairs or elevators, which makes life easier for anyone using a walker or wheelchair and safer for residents in memory care.
Can residents receive hospice care here?
Catalina Gardens is not a hospice, but we plan for residents to be able to receive hospice care in place from a hospice agency of their family’s choice, so they can stay home through the end of life. In California this requires a hospice care waiver from the state, which we plan to request, subject to state approval. How hospice works in assisted living.
